Matchbox Toys were one of the first Diecast brands in the UK, making toys for the children, it soon became a worldwide smash, as time passed it became a part of Mattel and now produces those classic toys for the kids and models for the collector
Hot Wheels were introduced in the 60's as an alternative to the smash hit Matchbox, their cars initially were very crude, but soon became collectors models worth a lot of money, today, they produce some great diecast castings as well as the mainline range of toys for everyone.
Corgi toys the great British diecast brand, that produces so many great models, from James Bond, to Mini, TV and Film, Beatles and so so much more, from a mum buying a toy for their child to the serious collectors.
Launched in 1996, by Jack Odell and his company, Lledo, (Lledo is Odell spelled backwards) Vanguards is a series of diecast 1/43 (and 1/64 commercial) scale model vehicles designed for the adult collector spanning half a century of motoring in Britain. Originally sometimes called the "Fifties and Sixties Classic Collection" and with the motto 'Setting the standard'. They were first produced from 1996-1999 under the ownership of Lledo, with the first model being the VA1000 Navy Blue Ford Anglia 105E. Since 2008, Vanguards have been produced under the ownership of Hornby PLC, these models are definitely not toys.
The French brand of Majorette, has some great diecast castings in the range of 1/64 sized models, with working suspension and opening parts on the majority of new models, along with a lot of sets, and specials, the range is now the biggest it has ever been, from the lower prices toys to the higher priced highly detailed collectors models, there is something for everyone.
